Born in 1965 in Sofia (Bulgaria), Simeon Pironkoff studied until 1983 at the Academy of Music in Sofia, and in 1990 he graduated from Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts where he studied conducting with Karl Oesterreicher, and composition with Erich Urbanner.
In the period 1989 - 1992 he worked as conductor with numerous opera companies in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as with various youth orchestras and free stages in Europe.
In 1992 he established ensemble on _ line vienna – one of the most important ensembles for contemporary music in Austria.
He was awarded many prizes and scholarships for his work - G. v. Herder - Prize, Alban Berg - Foundation, "R. Wagner" - scholarship, Work scholarship of the city of Vienna, Appreciation Price of the Ministry of Culture and Education, Promotion Prize of the city of Vienna, as well as Scholarship of the State of Austria.
As a composer and conductor he has collaborated with such ensembles as Ensemble Wiener Collage, Newton ensemble, ensemble recherche, ensemble 2r2m (Paris), ensemble clarinetissimo, “ensemble neue musik wien”among others.
Simeon Pironkoff has recorded several CD’s with works of 20th c. He has given lectures at the Institute of the Teatro Colon and Conservatorio Nacional de Buenos Aires as well as at Sofia State Academy of Music.
Since 1992 he has been appointed professor at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna at the institute for orchestral leading (basic subjects conducting and piano).
